Then, on September 11th, join us for a book release party for Block's latest book, Beyond Vanity: The History and Power of Hairdressing, set to be released on September 10. Learn about 19th century American hair culture, including the complex cultural meanings of hair and the significant role of hairdressing in the postbellum era. We'll also explore the contributions of women of color and the creation of iconic hairstyles.
These events are designed for anyone interested in the intersections of fashion, culture, and hair! They offer a unique opportunity to gain new insights into the real women who shaped both American and French societies and women's history—unlike anything you'd see on Emily in Paris!
