Global Art Journey - Wednesdays
Wednesdays @ 9 am
Service Description
In honor of Women's History Month, embark on a journey across the globe to celebrate the significant contributions of women artists & uncover how women are dominating, shaping, and enriching the global art scene. Discover the profound impact of women in the art world, one region at a time. Each week, we'll embark on a virtual expedition to different corners of the globe, shining a spotlight on three extraordinary women artists who are defining the contemporary art scene in their respective geographies. In Colombia, we'll explore Olga de Amaral's textile art that merges tradition with modernity, alongside Doris Salcedo's impactful sculptures. In Brazil, Beatriz Milhazes' canvases will mesmerize us, in Germany, Katharina Fritsch challenges reality through her monumental sculptures, and in Korea, Conceptual artist, Kimsooja immerses us in light, texture and sound in her perplexing installations. We'll examine emerging artists as well, such as Christina Quarles and Ana Segovia, showcasing their innovative contributions to the contemporary art landscape. Throughout this course, we'll also pay homage to the female pioneers who paved the way for these contemporary artists. We'll explore the legacies of these trailblazers, understanding how their struggles, achievements, and innovations laid the foundation for today's women artists to thrive and excel. This art series not only celebrates the artistic achievements of women but also offers a unique perspective on how cultural, political, and personal histories shape the creation and interpretation of art across different regions. Join us on this enlightening expedition as we uncover the powerful contributions of women artists to the global art landscape.
